Divorce and separation in Australia is sadly all too common. In fact, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics there were 46,498 divorces in Australia in 2014.

ASIC has released a Divorce and Separation financial checklist to assist people to manage their finances when their relationship breaks down.

The new checklist from ASIC's MoneySmart can help you work out what you need to do. You can also use it to support someone you know who's going through a divorce or separation.

The checklist gives practical steps to separate finances and get individual’s money back on track.
